Reporting Using Department Hierarchy from SMP

Hi Experts,

I'm looking for ways to include the Department hierarchy that SMP has in reports within ServiceDesk.  So for example if SMP had a department hierarchy of:

> Head Department 1

     > Child Department A

     > Child Department B

> Head Department 2

     > Child Department C

     > Child Department D

Then I'd like to have a report where I can select Head Department 1 and see all incidents assigned to Head Department 1, Child Department A and Child Department B.

Is this possible?  I know I can probably use linked DBs, recursive queries, views and a profile definition but perhaps theres an easier way?
